Quick Answer: Free from the curse of the law does not mean the law was a curse that we are now free from, it means we are free from the curse that comes on us for breaking the law. That curse is death, we are pardoned from the death penalty.
Another misunderstanding of Paul's words is when he says that we are "free from the curse of the Law".
I know some people who read his words look at this the wrong way and are under the impression and tell others that the law of Elohim and his commandments were a curse, that we are free from and no longer have to do, since Messiah died and he was made a curse for us.
Not only is that thought great great blasphemy, but it is highly false and contradictory to the entire word of YHWH since YHWH has stated repeatedly we are cursed from not keeping the Law.
The law was a great blessing and Elohim also blessed those who kept it, me not being allowed to murder my neighbor is a blessing to my neighbor, not a curse to him, right? I will show you the verse;
Galatians 3:13 "Messiah has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree"
The scripture he was referring to about the tree is found at Deuteronomy 21:23, but anyway, Paul is saying Messiah has saved us from the curse of the law, and the curse of the law if you break it is death, so Messiah has saved us from death which is true since YHWH put the iniquity of us all on him, we must still obey the law though or else Messiah literally died for nothing! Look at what Paul said about the Law and commandments;
Romans 7:12 "Therefore the Law is holy, and the commandments holy and righteous and good"
So we can see Paul is not some man who is running out telling people the law was a curse and to not keep it. Now lets look at a verse before he says we are redeemed from the curse of the law;
Galatians 3:10 "For as many as are relying on the works of the law are under the curse for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them"
First off let me point out he is quoting YHWH our Father who said cursed is everyone who does not keep the law.. anyway he is trying to get across every man sins and those who are relying on the law to save them are in trouble if they slip up just one time, and I think all of us except Messiah knows we break commandments even when we are trying not to! But YHWH has saved us from this fate by pardoning our sins through the blood of the perfect lamb, Yahushua.... It is obvious Paul is not saying we are free from keeping the law, and I tell you if you stop keeping the Law altogether Messiah died for nothing, but here is a verse of Paul confirming he did not mean we do not have to keep the law since Messiah pardoned our sins, this verse will make more sense to you now;
Romans 6:15 "What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as servants, you are servants to the one whom you obey, whether you are servants to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?"
